Relocation Kick-Off!

We recently held two relocation meetings, one on the afternoon of 5/19 and one the following evening. We covered the same material both nights, so don't worry if you weren't able to make it to both!

Among other things, we discussed the need for residents to get a head start on getting Reasonable Accommodations approval. This is important for you if you:

  1. Want a 2-bedroom apartment and have a second member of the household living with you, OR

  2. Want an accessible unit due to mobility issues.

If either of these will apply to you, reach out Louneta and Jenny with property management and they will connect you to the right person at FCRHA. Even if you are not on a FCRHA contract, they will be the agency that determines your eligibility for a two-bedroom or accessible (UFAS) unit.

ALL units, whether or not it is officially "accessible" for individuals with mobility difficulties, will have some features that make it easier to live independently for longer. These include:

  • Lever handle door pulls and D-shaped draw pulls -- no knobs,

  • Grab bars in the showers/tubs,

  • One section of lowered, roll-under counter in the kitchen,

  • Side-by-side fridge/freezers,

  • Convertible base cabinets at sinks, so that they can be converted to roll-under as necessary, and

  • Secure keyless entry system (using individualized fobs).

Finally, please visit the FAQ's page of this website for some updates following the meeting. Additionally, we will be posting blog articles in the coming weeks to discuss a few items in more detail, including:

  • The utility allowance,

  • Parking, and

  • Disposal of items ahead of moving.
